I was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1994. My focus is on court work and dispute resolution, particularly in the areas of family, estate and civil law. I have extensive dispute resolution and collaborative practice experience and training. In addition, I have maintained a solicitor’s practice which has included estate planning and administration, tax planning, real property conveyancing, financing, and commercial transactions.
I worked as an Associate and articled at Wolch Pinx Tapper Scurfield in Winnipeg from 1993-1997. In 1997, I worked as an Associate and later in 2000 became Partner at McCarthy & Brown LLP in Carman, Manitoba. I enjoyed my rural practice until 2008 when I moved back to Tapper Cuddy LLP in Winnipeg. I missed my rural practice and have returned as an Associate at Brown & Associates Law Office in Carman as of January 2016.
As a professional, I am actively involved with the Law Society of Manitoba, frequently teaching Bar Admission students and other lawyers on a variety of topics including courtroom skills. I have presented on various topics to colleagues and currently participating on two professional governance committees. I have also taught advocacy courses and been a frequent guest presenter at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Law.
I grew up in rural Alberta and have resided in Morris, Manitoba since 1987 with my husband and three children. I am committed to rural living and my family.
